The guys kick off our third and final part of the Scotty and Alex reunion show on TheAlexShow.com talking about some of their favorite TV shows. You will be shocked to find out how bad their taste is.

Alex talks about life as a new homeowner and planning for a wedding next year.

In other news, one of Alex’s websites RideThePine.com is really taking off. After just a few weeks, it was featured in iTunes as a “New and Noteworthy” video podcast. A month later, RTP had over 220,000 views.

Alex talks about how unlike any other media, the internet can give you exact viewing numbers. No Arbitron, No Neilson, NO guessing, just exact numbers. This leads to a discussion of the potential of internet radio and comparing it to satellite radio.
Scotty has finally joined the rest of the world and got an iPod. A few months later, it was lost or stolen.

The guys talked about the early podcast days with Scotty and Alex

There will be always be radio, but to move forward the people in radio need to think new. The days of when an audience needs their “time and tempture” every ten minutes. With technology, most people have that info in seconds. Radio just needs to focus on quality content.

Alex tells a story of when he went out one night and was promoting S&A at a karaoke bar, and someone came up to him and trashed the show.

The guys talked about reading radio rumor boards, like Radio-Info. They both love reading the gossip. Alex said the only time he got mad at a posting was when someone questioned how S&A made it to Philly radio, claiming an old boss used his connections which were not true.

The guys talk again on why there arrogance at the time paid off

There is more…but you will have to listen to find out…

Welcome to Part 2 of the Scotty and Alex reunion from TheAlexShow.com

The show kicks off with Scotty talking live on his radio station Wild 102.7 in Atlantic City, NJ. Alex asks Scotty what it’s like adjusting to being on a new station with music he doesn’t know.

The guys reminisce about the day that Twitchels, their favorite comedian with tourettes and long time guest of the show, made his first appearance. It was the same day as the birth of Scotty’s youngest child. Alex talked about his recent interview with Twitchels and was still in shock about Twitchels’ suicide attempt.

Scotty talks about seeing Alex’s father at the local 7-11 near the radio station, and that Alex’s Dad always seems grumpy and didn’t talk to Scotty the first couple of times he saw him.

S&A talk about why they didn’t reunite on WJSE after they were fired from WYSP. Plus, find out who they met with and why they were so confident that another job was right around the corner.

The former owner of Access 1, which use to own WJSE, recently passed away. Scott tries to remind Alex of when they saw the owner during Scotty’s bachelor party, late night at the Trump Plaza casino. Alex’s memory of that night is cloudy.

What happened to former call screener and intern, Stinks? Yeah, yeah!

Alex talked about how he received a bunch of emails from a stripper a year after they left WYSP asking to remove photos off of ScottyandAlex.com. Alex said he didn’t want to (and didn’t have to) but did it anyway because it didn’t feel like getting anymore emails from the girl.

The guys talked about their relationships with the strip clubs when they were on the air and how they got tired of having them in studio all the time. Alex listens to Howard Stern everyday, but tunes out when he has girls in the studio. Scotty who is a huge Stern fan stopped listening because he misses the old, angrier Howard.

The Alex Show kicks off with a slamming new theme song from Chris Norton of the band, Barricades. You can check them out in iTunes or on their website BarricadesMusic.com.

PLUS There are links everywhere to help you participate with the show…take advantage!!!

The Alex Show is proud to welcome Scott Reilly, reuniting The Scotty and Alex Show for the first time in almost a year. The guys start off the show wondering if anyone remembers their show because its been almost three years since the last time they were on the air together at WYSP in Philadelphia.

The reason the guys wanted to get together for a podcast was to discuss the recent format flip of their old station in Atlantic City, WJSE, to a dance station [Link]. Scotty still works at the station and gives a brief history of what happened at that station after he returned over two years ago, after S&A were let go in Philly. Scotty was convinced that he was almost fired when the station switched to Wild 102.7 on July 4th.

Alex talks about a recent documentary of the old JSE Rocks 102.7 that was on YouTube that featured Scotty just weeks after people from his morning show were fired. Alex said it was upsetting because he could tell Scotty looked depressed. The documentary is worth a watch because it gives a good, REAL glimpse into the life of radio.

Alex talked about he would never go back to radio and the guys discuss what life was like after they were fired at WYSP.

Scotty is recording the podcast while he is on the air at Wild 102.7. He has to break away every fifteen minutes to talk on the air, we can listen in. Is Spinderella dead???

The guys talks about their arrogance and their drive to make it big. It was that combination that made them have some success.

Scotty spent some time recently on ScottyandAlex.com to reminisce on some of the glory days. The pictures span their time in afternoon drive, to mornings, to nights in Philly. Its a cool place to spend some time but NSFW (Not Safe for Work).

Being in Philadelphia was a blessing and curse to the show. The guys had an experience of a lifetime making it to a major market, but being part of the Free FM debacle most likely ended their career together. Not many people who were a Free FM show ever made it back into radio.

The guys talked about how they are still shocked that no one knew they had a two night tryout in NYC, while they were still on the air in Atlantic City.

The guys laughed about how when they left to go to Philly, the company in Atlantic City took recently printed shirts for them and sent them back to the printer. The printer crossed out “Scotty and Alex” and ADDED a Mancow logo, who replaced S&A. Another great idea from management and consultants.

S&A battled with consultants…

Wednesday July 7th – 10:10pm EST – Alex kicks off the show talking about how the heat has been at all time highs in the Boston area. In addition, Alex is really distracted because he received two phone calls in the first couple of minutes of the show. Alex rarely receives phone calls and really needs to talk to the two people that called.

Alex talks about the continuing success of RideThePine, and how yesterday being featured on the front-page of Mevio gave him a record number of downloads. So lets talk sports.

Lots of excitement over Lebron James’ Thursday night press conference to announce what team he will sign with. This is an unprecedented move. Alex bashed people who blame ESPN for this whole Lebron ridiculous, because it is the biggest story of the year. Maybe Lebron should wait to win a title before holding another press conference.

Alex hates the CBS television show “I Get that a Lot.” What bothers him so much is the episode with Paris Hilton and she only put on a pair of glasses like Clark Kent. People didn’t realize it was here until she took of the dumb glasses and were shock. The best part was that they tricked “Eddie” the older brother on Family Matters.

This episode of The Alex Show is brought to you by BuyCostumes.com

Use Buy Costumes coupon code – alex – and get 12% off your order.

Alex talks about how the first radio station he worked at, WJSE in Atlantic City, NJ, switched formats to Wild 102.7. Alex gave a history of how he almost became a copier salesman, and out of luck found the job opening that landed him at the station.

Alex talked about the success that the “Scotty and Alex” show had and when things started to get bad at WJSE.

Alex talked about his last days at the station and how they were going to move the show back to afternoons and bring in Mancow for mornings. You need to hear this part!

It was time for WJSE to switch formats because the spirit of the station that made it great died a long time ago.

I would say that 99.9% of the people who come to TheAlexShow.com or reading “The Beat It” blog have NO idea who I am…so let me tell you.

I was born Alexander Stanley Balcerski Jr, shortly after midnight on August 19th, 1981. I was born four weeks pre-mature because, as my mother put it, “that Phil Rizzuto was so annoying (who was announcing a Yankees baseball game) he sent me into labor.”

I grew up in the same house my entire life in Linwood, a small shore town in Southern New Jersey. Most of my childhood I spent playing baseball, basketball, and soccer during the school year and working construction with my father in the summer. When I was five I got a really rare disease called Guillain-Barre, I survived.

I attended college at the University of Richmond (in Virginia), which is where I started my broadcasting career.

What started out as a professional wrestling radio show, “The Big Show” turned into one of the most listened to shows on WDCE. Which isn’t all that impressive since most people at the school had no idea that there was even a radio station.

After graduation, I landed my first job at modern rock station WJSE-FM in Atlantic City. I started out as the board operator for The Howard Stern Show, basically pushing buttons and occasionally squeaking out the weather and sports. It was there that I met the afternoon DJ, Scott Reilly, who originally turned me down for my job. After becoming friends and putting together some comedy bits, I joined Scotty as the co-host of what eventually became know as The Scotty and Alex Show (www.scottyandalex.com).

Within a year, we became the number one afternoon show in Atlantic City. The success helped us be named the successor to Howard Stern on WJSE in January 2006. Our run in mornings only lasted ten months as we were picked up by the legendary WYSP in Philadelphia to host nights on the newly deemed, FREE FM.

The show enjoyed success in Philadelphia, even releasing a compilation CD of parody songs and bits titled “Suck My Bit.” However in September of 2007 WYSP changed formats, and The Scotty and Alex Show was let go.

As the radio industry has changed so have I! This is why I developed TheAlexShow.com with a live weekly internet show on Friday nights, The Beat It Blog, the video series “It Could Be Worse…”, forums, and much more!

Take some time to check out the podcasts, watch some videos, read some blogs, and hanging out in the forums with other fans of TheAlexShow.com.

Most of us have done it once in our lifetime and for those who haven’t, you’ve probably thought about it.

I’ve done it.

I’ve been the worse offender of this.
But now I plead to fellow drunks, leave musicians alone! The best way to explain this awful phenomena is start at my drinking habits. I have two types of drinking modes; sober and out of control. When I get out of control, I can embarrass myself in a record amount of time. But one of my favorite things to do is when I am at a drinking establishment with any type of music, I like to position myself near the band or DJ and talk (with slurred speech) about how they should present the music.

If there is a DJ, I request songs.

If there is a band, I tell them what to play.

And god forbid if they are doing a good job, I give a nod of approval as if I was a talent agent looking to sign the next big thing.

Normally, I’m never conscious enough to realize how annoying this can be. Either to the music maker or to those just trying to have a good time. But I have seen the errors of my way and I vow to change.

Recently, I was at a local watering hole enjoying a couple of late night drinks. The music was coming from a DJ who had a bongo player beating along to the music. I was the designated driver on this night so I wasn’t indulging as much as I would’ve like, but I loved the music. So with a Budweiser in my hand, I made my way near the bongo player to watch him go to work.

And that is when the first drunk guy made his appearance. He tried to have a conversation with the beat-maker which was nearly impossible because of the loudness of the music but as he tried to get closer he was knocking the mics out of position. The bongo player decided that the best course of action was to ignore the drunken mess until he went away, which he did. However, within minutes another drunkard made his way near the bongos and stared at the musician and nodded with the music inches from the musicians face. I don’t know how he did it, but the guy just slightly turned his head and pretended as if this nuisance wasn’t directly in front of him.

And that is when it hit me. It took 27 years but I finally realized that when you are drunk it is really annoying to bother musicians.

The bongo player was probably making $25-50 that night and was just trying to do a good enough job to come back the next week and get a paycheck. He didn’t want to be bothered. He was just trying to provide music so that everyone would have a good time, but for whatever reason drunkees unknowingly try to ruin this.

It is as if we are trying to prove that we have as much musical talent as these professionals…we do not! If we were as good as them, we would’ve been hired to perform.

So the next time you think about making your way to the band, stop. Stay where you are and enjoy the company of those you are with.

Unless the band is really awesome!
